I'd like to start off by saying 'Thanks Travis.' - I kinda needed a jumpstart.
After preparing for December/January show Human Nature with Russtafri Olson, I was completely drained... COMPLETELY. I've never been so mind fucked. But the show turned out awesome, and we're pretty proud of what we were able to squeeze out in such a short burst. Below is a shot of the second leg hanging at the Greenwood Collective - Home Suite Home

Other than that - starting the new year finishing up some commission work, and getting ready for Boxes of Death 3D in March... Right now I'm working on a little bit of Flava Flav... sneak peak of the EARLY stages...

Thanks Duffy For killing it once again last night with Boxes of

Death #2. The show was packed, all of the artist displayed their A game, high fives were thrown, crotch hugs were witnessed, peace signs were thrown, fun was had... and there was a dead rat on display. Pretty much awesome everything packed into a 5 hour extravaganza....

Gary, this is Business #1

Based off of 1950's Business propaganda, with a pleasant zombie style skin tone twist... No one likes it when their boss blasts them with something on the spot... and no one likes zombies as boss's. interesting.

This one still got another coat of epoxy and a bit more color within that layer, but photo's weren't happening quite right... come see it in person, or buy it and you can see what's really happening.

Kenneth: the Vegan Tennis Pro/Biker Bad Ass/Sensitive Guy

This is Kenneth. the title says it all. He's a tennis pro who once trained with Andre Agassi back when he had long hair... Not one to abandon where he came from like Agassi, Kenneth has been growing his magical rainbow beard since their last match together when Kenneth beat Agassi - but soon after, Andre went on to claim all the fame... besides all that tennis debauchery, Kenneth is one Bad Ass dude. On the weekends when he's not busy with the tennis thing, and not having affairs with all the country club ladies, you'll find him out riding his "Hog" (it's actually a Triumph T140 Bonneville built as a chopper, not a Harley...) on the open road is the only other thing that wins Kenneth's heart... although he's not your average Biker dude, as Kenneth is a Vegan, so no leather chaps or vest on this beast... Just the open road, a pack of tennis balls, a bad ass sweatband, and his open toed hippy sandles...

Hope that's enough for you... This series will all be about those Gnarly bikers that you see, and always wonder what their like when their not all leathered and flamed up... what lies beneath all that effort?

Gentle Giant Mat Savage, blasted his way through another show. This time with a series of work based on his recent trip to Yellow stone, and of course the ladies...

"Mi tse a-da-zi" - the native word that eventually became translated and 'English-ized' to Yellowstone...

don't worry. Mat couldn't pronounce it either.

I'm not sure how many of these he ended up casting... But I got to hear the trials and tribulations of his process. Everything seemed to work out in the long run, and they turned out pretty sick!

Put in the final 5 hours at the mural today. Details, rework, and more details... It feels good to be done, and happy with the final product...

This is where I left off on Thursday nights event... I wasn't that excited about how bright the yellows were, and how it got brighter as it went back/up. So I did some taping and repainting, put in some more details and more line work, then put my stamp on it, cleaned up my mess and called it a day.

Put 5 hours in tonight at the Vera... There was an Elf Power show, so i could have watched or even listened to them for free... but I opted to listen to all 75 songs on my playlist instead. The lighting was horrible tonight, so no photos, and I'm also keeping my fingers crossed with that since I couldn't really see a whole lot of what I was doing... Hopefully colors and whatnot came out correct, and I'm not surprised when I get there tomorrow... 7 hours of full on painting tomorrow - the event is from 7-9... come check it out and throw some paint on a panel to be displayed in the Vera's windows facing the Seattle Center...

I'll leave you with more awesome majesticness...

Now, if I can get to sleep before 4 am it'll be a mostly successful night.

Vera Update

Home and done for the day... hopefully sleep will follow this post. Worked at Vera today from 6-10 and got a lot done, and am pretty stoked on the outcome... and am also a bit more confident that I'll actually finish this thing on time... tomorrow is still a big get shit done day, but I think it should go smoothly...

Here's some process pics of the mural so far... Pictures aren't much... most of the colors are a mix of an acrylic base with a 5 color blast of aerosol speckles over it...

day 1 - 4 hours in

Day 2 - 8 hours in, everything is sketched out, and just needs a bit of love. the Yellow is a bit intense and needs to be toned down a bit in the lower portion, but should work out.

Day 3 will be outlining and detailing the lower character and the yellow tone down.

After the Vera, I drove myself up to the studio to work on the lettering... I cut these letters out of 2 inch insulation styrofoam... then shaved and sanded them to shape, and gave em a coat of spray paint - on purpose as Aerosol will eat away at the styrofoam as it dries - I figured this out on a road trip to Mt Hood with Blue Mont while trying to fix a CAPiTA sign with spray paint. We ended up eating a hole in the middle of the letter... so basically, these ended up having a kind of weird wet water creature tentacle look and texture to them.... Pretty mellow up there tonight, some touch up and details along with bonding them all the tentacles together... Hopefully things dry up nicely so I can hang that first thing on Thursday...

Sudden blast of inspiration lately in my work, and each piece seems to have some sort of 'meaning' behind it... something a lot of my stuff has been lacking in the past... Although right now things seem a bit troubled as far as imagery is concerned, I'm rather excited about this whole situation. I feel like a lot of my old things have made people think, but more along the lines of 'what's going on...?' sort of thoughts - rather than something that has any sort of depth to it...

I've been working like crazy... 16 hour work days have melted themselves together - top that off with an inability to sleep and we have ourselves a small fiasco of life. Took some pics of the work i did last night, but I apparently forgot to save them, nice work me... The 3D elements of the mural are coming together, slowly, but surely. Tonight I'll paint at the Vera for 4 hours, then head up to the studio to finish some details of what was started last night... Follow that up with an identical day on Wednesday, and then Thursday paint and install for 7-8 hours to wrap this thing up during the event... WEEEEEE!

Day 2 of this project wasn't too much... Pretty much consisted of the Clouds in the Background, some more torching of the paper, and another THICK coat of Mod Podge... real classy like.

Today was man mode... Acrylic and Aerosol... The base is set, now i just need to color in the rest of his tentacle arms and draw on his mask and I'll be set to finish this at EVO's Walk the Line Event on friday.

In other news... The First day of the Vera Project Mural is this Tuesday... I'll be in measuring and probably sketching out the top section up until the tentacles and words/ray of awesome...

I'm gearing up for a mural for the Vera Project at the end of October... preparing sketches and checking out what I need for the 3d objects, and the best way to go about this project... My idea has changed a bit, so i dug up my first proposal to see what i was thinking then, and how I can tie the 2 together... Not sure what's going to happen as this was an Interesting proposal for sure... Here's my favorite quote from my very own mouth:

"...mouth open and projecting a ray of awesome that would travel throughout the whole mural. Within this 'ray of awesome' is where the tentacles and letters would be."
I'll say that's a bit weird...

So tired. so tired.
One of those nights where you all of the sudden look at the time and realize that it's 1:30 am and you still have to clean up your crap, get home and try to get some rest before punching in the next day... I may be tired, but feel pretty good about the overall flow of creative juices as of lately... slightly morbid, and rather depressing compared to my normal routine. It's funny what the mind whips up when it's stuck in different modes.

I need to take care of myself, my skinny self doesn't need to lose any more weight... Ice cream is not the diet of champions, but it is a delicious comfort food.

so i've been meaning to update this thing... I have been working. A LOT lately. things are crazy, but i've finished my most favorite, most personal piece i've ever done... It says a lot about where my head is at right now...

I was asked to do a piece similar to Mat and I's 2009 Artoleptic piece... 2 days in and i've already reworked the background 3 times. This time I feel happy with it, and have some good ideas on how to make it 'better' in my eyes. Pretty excited to be redoing this one, since the first one was so much fun... and when you finish a piece, a lot of the times you stand back and look at it, and think to yourself 'I should've done this, or that.... this time, i get to do those things. The colors are actually purple, not so blue like the photo appears.

I've been working up at the Band Vibes/Better Friends HQ on a 4 piece series for our show in May... Inspired by mood rings and wrinkly people these little gems have been pretty fun to work on. The idea is to have everything the same, besides color and the expression on the characters face - hopefully bringing more mood to the piece, and to see how emotions are affected by color... So far it's been a LOT of stencils and spray paint... Line work and some epoxy to happen next...

so 4 weeks of Anti-Social life was followed up with a giant slap of Life...! 2 of my greatest friends graced my presence with their bright and shiny faces... I don't have a boat, but we made it pretty amazing. Besides being too hungover to think of something to do, or throwing up cold orange juice in Starbuck's, I wouldn't change a thing... Good times with good friends is probably the #1 thing to happen to anyone at anytime, and i was blasted with an enormous heaping of just that... I don't have 600+ pictures of the adventures, but i was able to remind myself to take some pics the last day of the battle when Russ and I somehow managed to drive ourselves to the Coast to see the ocean... We saw some rad things, drove along the beach, niko blasted the ocean and chased birds, we got adventurous and then got scared, then drove and stopped in THE SKETCHIEST town I've ever been in, drank the worst coffee i've ever had in my life, but ended up making it all pretty awesome... pictures to prove this one.

I've been working like crazy... or so it feels. I painted and poured a second coat of epoxy on a piece i'm working on for the March 5th show at Times Infinity gallery/Evo... THEN did this lil guy, which is the first installment for another collaboration work with John Osgood, and Jeremy Gregory... I'm so excite.

"Heart Me..."

there's always something.

I displayed this little guy at the 619 building for little Jen's "Heart Attack" show on Thursday the 4th. It's painted on the back of an old one, so it's kind of like a two for one kind of operation...? 2 layers of resin, pigment, aerosol, acrylic, and canvas on wood - about 10 x 14.

It's hard to tell the Layers until you see it in person, but...

I've been super busy lately, and this is the first post in forever... I've been painting, working, working, painting... I got the chance to go to Denver for SIA with the C3 family - and was super hyped on it. Beats Vegas, easy. It so happened to be CAPiTA's 10 year anniversary, so on day 2, at noon it called for a celebration...

The Bybliw's graced me with their presence while I was in Denver, and there was good times happening... We got to end the trip with 2 days of on snow Demos at Winter Park CO... I got to hand out Hi Fives, eat chili Dogs, turn screws, be a tech head with other tech heads about snowboard BS, and best yet take some turns and grab some sky with Chad, and Adam... it had been too long. It was a good day for Hudini's and the ice stache was in full effect - and boy, did we shred the hell outta some Bumps!

doing the math... it looks like i've got to do at least 1 painting a week in order to be satisfied with myself com March... That equals about 10 new pieces - 2 of which will be collab pieces for the EVO art show on the 5th... It's about to get weird, but i like it... this is my workspace with the 2 that i've been procrastinating on lately... the one on the right with the crang brain is new; the left is a forgotten about rework, that shall be the awesomeness...

So I realized after seeing my pieces up on the wall with some good lighting that the pictures i've posted are immensely Lack Luster. I might as well have not even posted them... Hopefully soon I'll have some legit shots so you can actually see that its actually pretty sweet, and not just a glared out blurry mess...

In other amazing news... I realized that I'm incredibly out of shape on Sunday while hiking at Steven's... but, also remembered how fun it is to Hi Five with friends while riding snowboards... Got in the first method of the year, along with an epically sweet tree slap to bail flail powder puff Blaster...

Decided to have myself an epoxy party tonight, after many long nights working on these 3 little gems for the Purple Razors Family and Friends show this Thursday. I used epoxy on these ones a little different than I usually do, trying to place it a little more - Also added a bunch of pigments to the epoxy to give it some rad shimmery type effects... pretty stoked so far, just some touch up left. Come see them on Thursday so you can soak em in...

on a mission to Fred Meyer, I came across some really good stencil making items... These pieces are heavily influenced by the spongy mats you put in your drawers...
