PaperMarbles Project

My photo
I am Maynerd... apparently the artist formerly known as PaperMarbleS... The reason this whole blog started up so long ago was for the PaperMarbleS project, which I never really motivated enough to actually make it come to light... Well, It's back. The First edition of the PMSProject should be ready to roll in late 2011, and there are some sweet ideas rolling for it. The content of the actual blog may shift a bit, as I won't be showing so much of the process of the art, but more of what it is that influences the end results... Also Show recaps and other random tidbits of Awesome... Heads up Stand up.

the adventures of charlie mcnabb and his travels...

super mixed media and resin on wood panel - 16 x 36

Charlie McNabb was always the kid who got picked on in school... so as he grew, he was determined to change this and make something of himself - he decided to see the world and travel... along his way, he made friends with an octosquid from the very depths of the seas named robert... becoming bestest of pals, they continued to travel the world and see all of its wonders, all while blasting hi fives, and drinking cheap beers...
the process of this painting was intense, there's a brief overview of it posted below...

the making of...

I've been super busy lately... but finally there's something to show off...
first coat of resin put down.  I sanded some clouds in so they'd show up real subtle like... drew on the initial sketch to use as a guideline and did some splatter fun time...
the base layer of the octosquid is painted on...
then, the turtle gets livened up. this one with more going on, because it gets set in more resin to give the whole piece some depth...
turtle blaster got his details drawn in and is lookin pretty sharp...
the second coat of resin has been put on - this is a pic of the stencil required for spraying the octosquid and bringing him to life...  Some more sanding was done, this time around the body and some other details to make them stand out from the glossy resin.

fridge gargoyle

little dude's been slackin at work lately, so i put him on fridge duty to guard the Tecate...
